Unfortunately, occasionally some dogs do make noise…barking occasionally is a natural behaviour for dogs.

This page provides information for my neighbours about the acoustic measures in the salon, expected noise times in the salon and a little bit of history around the setup of the salon.
I hope you find this information helpful. Let me know if you would like more or different information.

Generally dogs are not noisy during grooming, and usually if they do it is not for an extended period.
However occasionally I will have a dog in the salon that makes noise and sometimes it does last for a while.
Sometimes it is a puppy or new client and in which case I won’t know in advance and I apologies for the disturbance.
However occasionally I do have appointments for dogs that have a history of making noise in which case I will make the information about that booking here.

Show events

If you are a neighbour and you are planning an activity in your home where complete silence is essential and this clashes with an event in this calendar please email me at trimsalon3@gmail.com with the timings of your event and I will try and adapt this appointment if that is possible.
Obviously I am grateful for as much advance notice as possible so that I can schedule around your event.

General information about the acoustic measures inside my salon

Acoustic Ceilings
Acoustic ceilings have been installed in the salon, wash room and equipment area.
The ceilings are lowered Rockfon panel ceilings with 15mm deep panels, fire class A1, CE approved with 90% sound absorption, Longitudinal noise 26 dB.
The example recommended applications for this type of installation are Hospitality, Office, Sports facilities, Shop, Healthcare institution.

Acoustic Wall Paneling in Trim Studio
The walls in the salon are covered with Trespa panels and installed behind each panel is a sound absorbing layer rated for 10db sound absorption.

Separated wash and drying room
The bathing and drying activities in the salon are conducted in a separate room that has it’s own acoustic ceiling adding and additional barrier to the main salon acoustic ceiling and is fully closed by internal doors which I close to during washing activities to further isolate any noise.

Equipment Isolation
My hair dryers and vacuum cleaner a placed in an dedicated equipment space that is enclosed in sound studio rated foam panels and the air is piped to other areas of the salon to reduce the noise generated by the equipment.

Purchase of ultra quiet dryers
In march 2025 a new style ultra quiet dryer came onto the market. These new dryers a significantly quieter than any other dryers prviously available. I purchased and install 6 dryers and replaced all the dryers in the salon with the new quieter equipment. The model of the dryer is Waterblazer Dogophant DP03 – Stille waterblazer, met veel kracht

Acoustic Window Covering
The windows in the salon are fitted blinds, and triple later acoustic baffling curtains. I close these curtains if I have a noisy dog in the salon to reduce the propagation of the sound and improve the acoustics throughout the salon.

Grooming Tool Cabinet

The draws of the grooming tool cabinet are lined with accoustic absorbent felt to reduce the noise when tools are placed inside the cabinet draws.

Acoustic Paneling in Salon Waiting Room

The salon waiting room contains a non structural pillar between the 2 windows. To reduce sound that may be transmitted through this pillar an accoustic panel has been placed on the pillar. Additionally to reduce any reverberation of sound in the entry acoustic panel to half height has been placed on the adjacent wall by the doggy snack bar.

To demonstrate the accoustic isolation of the salon from the upstairs apartment, here are two videos. The first is a video showing the sound upstairs while a brickblok wall is being removed in the apartment upstairs. Then is a video showing the sound in my salon while this noise is occuring. The environment in the salon is very pleasant even during this extreme noise from upstairs.

Additional Work April 2025

For the weeks either side of Easter in 2025, I closed the salon for 2 weeks to undertake further work in the salon:

  1. Moved dryers into a separate acoustically baffled cabinet
accoustic padded cabinet for dryers

2. Added mirror panels to both walls in the main salon with accoustic foam behind the panels

3. Added accoustic paneling to the wall by the vacuum cleaner.

4. Added 2 extra layers of thick accoustic curtains to the curtain rails in the main salon.

5. A commercial decibel meter is now installed in the salon that logs the decibels every 6 seconds and stores the data for one year. The device also alerts any over threshold events.

decibel logging

I have sent a description of the measures to the building construction company and received the following response.
‘als ik het zo lees heeft u er alles aan gedaan om de geluidsoverlast te beperken.
Wij zijn er ook zeker van dat wij bouwkundig aan de normen voldoen.’

May 2025

Added a soft vinyl rug ontop of the epoxy floor in the entry by the pillar to soften the accoustics in this “clean” area of the salon where rugs are possible as constant cleaning is not needed in this area the way that it is in the grooming and bathing areas.

A little history on the salon studio space

I joined the bouwgroup to use Studio A for the purpose of running a Trimsalon in November 2020 .

All neighbours joining after this date had transparent access to the information that the intended usage of the studio space was a Trimsalon.
